Jo & Rick’s Wedding at the Mill House Hotel, Kingham

Having photographed Jo & Rick and their family last summer I was so happy when they told me they were getting married and asked me to photograph their wedding.  It was a local wedding for me in the beautiful village of Kingham in the Cotswolds at the Mill House Hotel.  I was only there for post ceremony photos and for just a couple hours so the time flew by very quickly.  I had been with my own family and friends at the Hook Norton Beer Festival beforehand and was lucky enough to be able to fit in their wedding and go back to my family for the rest of the day.  The atmosphere at the Mill House was so lovely.  Having 4 children of their own and lots of extended family and friends there, you could tell everyone knew each other so well.  They were all so relaxed and were thoroughly enjoying being with each other and celebrating Jo & Rick’s marriage.  I couldnt help be get caught up in the positive vibe of the day.

I hope you all enjoy having a look through their photos.  For any guests, all of the photos are available to view here.  Please get in touch if you need the password.

About the Mill House Hotel, Kingham: Website

Privately owned by local family, Paul & Maria Drinkwater, The Mill House Hotel is a 21 bedroom hotel set in 10 acres of stunning riverside gardens. With a recently refurbished fine dining restaurant and bar, it is the perfect place to choose for a relaxing stay in the Cotswolds.

Some History about the Mill

The Mill House was originally a water-powered flour mill, dating back to the 11th Century, and was recorded in the Domesday Book of 1086. However, the flagstones in Reception are the last survivors of the original Mill.

In the 16th Century the Mill was owned by New College, Oxford then it was rebuilt in 1770 – the original fireplace and bread ovens for proving the dough are now features in our residents lounge area. By 1847, milling was being supplemented by the sale of beer, and so the Mill effectively became part flour mill and part alehouse.

By the late 19th Century, the flour mill was no longer operational and evolved into the Kingham Village Inn. Further conversion in the mid 1980’s resulted in the present-day hotel with 21 bedrooms.
